Description - Outstanding "Baroque" style Brooch featuring a superb Cabochon cut Garnet. Assayed in the UK but the full set of marks are very small & difficult to read.

Crafted in solid 9ct yellow gold, the brooch measures 41mm x 28mm with a rub-over centre bezel, which is set with a 14mm x 10mm oval cabochon cut almandine garnet.

The colour of the garnet is reminiscent of a full bodied rich red wine, a gorgeous shade.

Surrounding the garnet is the most elaborate gold work, which has been influenced by the Baroque period , so ornate in design.

The pin at the back, closes as it should & for added security there is a small safety chain.

There is a small attached hook at the base of the brooch which has two small box link chains , that loop through, this gorgeous brooch could very easily have a drop down bail added by a competent manufacturing jeweller so it could be worn as an impressive pendant.

A very well crafted brooch, a larger, substantial piece, which certainly is very impressive when worn.
