Description - Outstanding Circa- Late Victorian, Large Locket & Bookchain Necklace.

A Very rare piece, these beautiful lockets & bookchain necklaces were generally crafted in silver, this particular one is solid 15ct Rose  gold, the locket & bookchain.

The valuation reflects what you would expect to pay, If you were able to source another in a Bricks & Mortar Antique Jewellery situation.

Crafted from 15ct rose gold, the book chain as well as the locket has a gold plating  over it, which was was often referred to as "Bloom". The bookchain at some point has had a modern 750 stamp, which my gemologist believes where a previous gold tester has been confused by the plating being a higher carat than the actual chain and has stamped it incorrectly.

The chain is 44cm in length and has a 15ct gold bolt ring with a 3cm long section of chain which acts as a hanging point for a pendant or locket.

The flat links are 14.5mm wide and the joining links are 8.5mm wide.

The bookchain weighs on its own 29.45 grams

Attached is as follows- One Antique Oval Locket with raised  Acorn decorations & Fleur-de-lis,  with a top plate set with old cut  diamonds.

The locket body measures 45mm x 36mm, a large very substantial piece..

The  locket tests as being 15ct Rose gold, with a yellow gold over plating or again "Bloom" which was often used to give the impression of a higher carat of gold.

The locket also has a modern 750 stamp on the hanger which again has been stamped incorrectly, .this originally wasnt stamped at all, which was quite common, with many pieces of antique jewellery.

The locket has a top bolt ring that tests as 15ct gold.

On opening the locket you will find what appears to be the original glass covers,, backing material and chapter rings which are made from a base metal.

The front of the locket is set with three old cut .08 carat G/G SI Natural Diamonds.

The rear of the locket has a smooth plain gold finsh.

This is an outstanding Victorian Locket & Bookchain, a very special antique piece.

The detail to the front cover has been crafted by a very talented goldsmith, it truly is a beautiful work of art.

This locket & bookchain is in fantastic condition, it appears to been well preserved.

A wonderful Antique treasure, that would make a very special family heirloom.
