Description - A Gorgeous Art Deco Ring, Handcrafted during the 1920's in the US by " Belais Manufacturing Co " founded by David Belais 1863 - 1933. who was among the early manufacturers of white gold to be used in Jewellery as a replacement for platinum.

David Belais was the first to patent his formula in 1917, during the 1920's white gold was often referred too as " Belais Metal " in the advertisements of many different jewellers .

White gold was invented as it presented like platinum & when Oxy / acetylene was invented in 1895, it became possible to work with platinum, it is an incredibly hard metal & it became pivotal to the designs of the deco period.

The problem was everyone wanted it including the military, as WW1 progressed the need for platinum for war efforts increased significantly, platinum was getting harder for jewellers to too acquire.

In 1918 the US Gov't enforced a ban on all non military use of platinum.

Back to his beautiful ring - it is handcrafted in solid 18ct white gold, with a 1.2mm to 3.3mm wide shank, which has been beautifully hand engraved with Orange Blossoms to the back & front of the setting, with further hand engraved bows at the shoulders & what appears to be leaves covering the whole shank.

Orange blossom symbolises " Virtue, Chastity and Innocence & has been the traditional wedding flower for by brides for centuries.

The head of the ring is plate grain set with one .17 carat, one .12 carat & one .11 carat early modern brilliant cut G/H VS Natural Diamonds.

The three diamonds being early cut, are extremely fiery, they are just gorgeous.

This Art Deco ring, is an absolute treasure, handcrafted by a highly skilled goldsmith from a bygone era, full of old world charm & romance.

An excellent piece to add to your art deco jewellery collection or maybe a superb example to start one with.
