Description - An Elegant Sterling Silver Tea Set Assayed In Birmingham in 1931. All three pieces carry crisp hallmarks ,Lion Passant ,Date Letter G, & Birmingham . The maker's Mark is HCD, in a  rectangular lozenge for the well known Silversmith Firm of Henry Clifford Davis.

Henry Clifford Davis entered the first of several marks with Birmingham Assay office in April 1901, on April 28th 1910 he entered the first of many marks with Chester Assay office too.

The firm of silversmiths were located at 121 Vyse St Hockley Birmingham Circa 1910, Vyse St is a very well known Location in Birmingham Jewellery quarter.

During WW1 the company contributed to the war effort by manufacturing components & aircraft parts.

By the early 30's the firm had relocated to to 23 Warston Lane Hockley Birmingham, then from 1933 the firm was styled as H.Clifford Davis LTD

Well known for their craftsmanship in producing superb silverware including exquisite powder compacts, ladies dresser sets , Tea sets , Cigarette cases , & the list goes on.

This gorgeous tea set includes the tea pot with a Bakelite handle, the milk jug & sugar bowl.

The tea pot holds a little over 750 mls of liquid , 

Height From Finial to Base - 17cm approx

Spout to handle - 22.5cm

Height Sugar Bowl - 62mm

Height Milk Jug - 52mm

Combined Weight x three piece - 631.5 grams

The tea set is in lovely condition, inside of tea pot has very light staining, which would be expected , the lid is hinged , the finial screwed in, under the lid near the screw is another hallmark of the lion passant & the Letter G for 1921. There are a couple of very small dents to tea pot not obvious overall it is in beautiful condition.

The sugar bowl is also in wonderful condition, a tiny dimple near one handle & small dent to one side, does not take away from the presentation of the piece or serviceability.

Milk Jug - Again beautiful condition , with a tiny dent to one side.

Overall this set is in amazing condition for its 92 years it certainly has been well looked after.

A quality sterling silver tea set which would certainly add a touch of opulence to your afternoon tea .
