Description - A beautiful handmade Oval Cabochon Cut South Australian Type Opal Dress Ring.
Circa / 1960's/70's
Handcrafted in solid 18ct rose gold, the opal is four claw set, & measures 20.07mm x 11.58mm x 6.03mm Oval cabochon cut solid opal, 8.53 carat approx.
The shoulders are split on either side of the band which lead to a raised gallery.
This beautiful opal has a white body tone with a wonderful pinfire pattern, with rolling multicolour, predominantly greens & orange. The depth of colour my gemologist notes is 80-to 100%
This is a gorgeous opal, very hard to capture the beautiful shades of colour in the pinafore pattern, opals are notoriously difficult to photograph.
The ring has a 2.61mm wide band by 0.86mm deep at the base.
The rise above the finger is 10.0mm .
A larger size opal , which provides good finger coverage, & looks quite fabulous on the hand.
A simple design its all about the opal.
